Principal Kari Baltes’ time at Wheeler Elementary has been nothing short of incredible. As the new principal, she loves working alongside a dedicated staff who give their all every day and being part of a school community filled with supportive parents, guardians, and neighbors.

A graduate of Sahuaro High School, Principal Baltes began her career as a teacher at Booth-Fickett, later serving as a school counselor at Dietz K-8, then as assistant principal at CE Rose for four years before becoming principal at Wheeler two years ago.

She recommends Wheeler to any family looking for a welcoming environment where every child feels they belong. Whether families are interested in the self-contained GATE program, OMA, or athletic opportunities like kickball and cross-country, Wheeler offers something for everyone.

Outside of work, Principal Baltes enjoys spending time with her 8-year-old daughter, who is the light of her life. A fun fact about Principal Baltes is that she is a proud Minnesota native and a huge Minnesota Vikings fan.
